Stanly LED

I bought this at Wal*Mart on sale and I wished i got two. I am not a big fan of LED’s but I am now. This little light is super bright almost as bright as my Stanley 1 Million candle power light. This is probley the most prower full LED light on the market. Nothing comes close. I t produces a really nice blue/white light. The dimmer is also really handy and works great and really like this light. :)

Update (2/7/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen. I also found some auctions for this item here.

Super Spotlight
I did not purchase this through Amazon. It was on sale at the local Lowes for $24. I couldn’t resist at this price. I was a bit skeptical about this spotlight being that it was only 5 watts and only one led bulb. But I assure you that it lives up to the highest of expectations. The led bulb is ultra-high output (192 lumens??) and it fully rechargeable. I purchased it because I live in the city, often hear noises or rustling in my backyard (where my bedroom is located). I was always going out to my deck to investigate the sounds, carrying my small handheld flashlights (also led, but lower output). The light was always too dim to really see what was going on. This spotlight is almost overkill. The light shines a bright spot of white light with a larger, not as bright halo around the spot. The trigger is easy to press, but the light kills as soon as the trigger is released, which is a bit odd. You can “lock” the trigger with the safety lock switch, which will keep the light on if you are hiking in the dark or whatever. But I just wish that the trigger was a click-once for “on” and click-again for off.

THE BEST BANG FOR YOUR BUCK, HANDS DOWN!
I have had this light for more then a year now and I must say, I have an extensive LED flashlight collection and have spent many
hundreds of bucks on the hobby starting way back when white LED lights came out. It was the CC expedition made by the C. Crane co.
and it only had 10 or 12 standard LED’s in it. I believe I paid over $50.00 for it and now I just shake my head in disgust at the money I threw away. Being a kid of the 60’s and 70’s I did my fare share of out back camp out’s with my buddy Joe and I would have killed to have a light like this little Stanley! we were stuck using old stile two D cell five and dime flashlights and even candles. We had wooden forts with fixed shelving and places to safely sit these candles so kids I do not suggest you use candles in your tents! but there is something to be said about being with your bud late at night with a candle between you and talking the night away…. Sorry the old times were taking me back…. Any who this Stanly light was added to my collection simply because if I didn’t like it, Walmart would take it back. they take anything back. Well when I got this thing out and charged it up, witch I might add is a no brainer, it has a led on top that blinks red while charging and when it’s done the darn light Beeps and the light turns green. Very simple for prople who might have vision problems or who are not very tech savvy. Turning on this unit was love at first “Click” it blew me away and like I said I own many lights, the most expensive being the Inova T-4 rechargeable police issue light costing around $160.00 I know, it’s a sickness. But then I realized that it still had more to give and I pushed the up button to revel that it starts out at 3/4 power. this thing was almost orgasmic in it’s performance. My driveway is 450 long and I can light up my mail box with no problem! the low power setting is a must for power outages as the unit will stand up on it’s back and bounce a nice warm beam off the ceiling and fill the room your in.
Now here’s the cool thing. This light comes with 6 AAA type batteries installed within. I had to open this thing up and take a peek. first off I noticed that there is an extensive heat sink within and it even uses the reflector as said heat sink. the whole area around the front of the light is a cast aluminum that not only makes it weigh well in the hand but actually has a good purpose. I then noticed that the area where the battery pack is lodged into the housing, has plastic tabs all around on both sides of the case to hold the pack tight. Well guess what, taking a pair of good 45 degree electrical side cutters, the kind used for fine soldering work, snips out all these thin retaining things. I unsoldered and removed the battery pack and made my own out of 2500Ma 1.2 volt energizer batteries AA in size. taped them up in a 6 pack fashion made the proper connections to the pack and added wires to it so I could hook the pack up just like the old one. and wouldn’t you know it, the pack fits snug as a bug! with no rattle when reassembled! WOW the heft factor is a bit more now but well worth the time and work and the little extra cash for the batteries at Walmart. my run time now has about doubled. On high power this thing runs 6.5 hours and on low it runs “Now get this” 36 hours!!!!! It recharges just fine with the wall plug or the car charger. just like I never touched it and you can’t tell that I did because it comes apart very well. any ways this is a must have light if your just getting into the hobby of collecting LED lights Or if you don’t collect and just shopping for a good light you’ll never want to be without, weather you do the modification or
not the run time is not too shabby right out of the box but I was just so impressed with it I had to make it a bit better when I saw the room to do it. Buy this light! you will love it! you will protect it! and you won’t loan it out because most likely you won’t get it back. If you loaned it to me you wouldn’t. I keep mine on the bedside table every night, I take it with me when I go out to have a smoke or let the pup out. I just cannot say enough about this light. Trust me and the others who left feedback on this thing. Yes you can get it at Walmart or Home Depot. I hope Stanley comes out with a brighter one using the new 9 watt LED’s soon because I will be the first to buy on! Sorry this was so long but when a product is this good people should spread the word.
