LaserShield KCR-0011502, Needs work

Overall Rating33333

Needs work

We’ve had Lasershield for a bit more than a year and generally we’re satisfied with it. However, the fobs that arm and disarm the system could use some improvement. The buttons don’t always make contact: you have to push them from several different angles to make them work. This is especially disconcerting when you inadvertently walk into the alarm zone when the alarm is armed. We’ve also found that the fobs are not anywhere near as resistant to damage by dropping as the ones that lock and unlock your car (at least the GM ones). Lasershield would be well advised to provide a means of arming/disarming the alarm without the fob, and making the fobs more durable.

Update (2/7/2012): This item is currently on sale here for the lowest price I’ve seen.

Only Game In Town
Since the Lasershield Remote is the only remote device that works with the system not much can be said about not buying it. The cover drops off making the device useless as mention by the other reviewer. They don’t last very long. After a while they refuse to set the alarm, the red light does not go on, another problem. The panic botton feature is too easily tripped. Which isn’t that much a problem except the alarm can’t be heard outside my door too well. Then you got to call the alarm company to cancel the alarm. The problem of the alarm being armed or disarmed is such a problem that I no longer carry it on my belt hook.

In all, I like keychain remote’s convieniance hence I bought about 7 extra. This seems to be only way to lick the quality control problem. But I just wish it was better made and designed. Which could be said for the entire line of Lasershield products.

lasershield remote
Excelllent device having facilitates the on / off the alarm. However, the lid may come off easily and you can lose the small battery inside. Just keep it safe in the day, and perhaps not a bad idea to save the lid with tape adhesive to keep it closed.
