Black & Decker CO100B, Great item, but one problem..

Great item, but one problem . . .

The earlier reviews are right on target about the solid construction and good looks of the CO100. The reason for the 3-star review: try cleaning it. You need to remove the piercing lever to really get it clean, and to remove the lever you rotate it counter-clockwise from horizontal to full vertical, then pull it out. But the lever is long enough that it sticks up more than an inch above the top of the opener when it’s vertical–in other words, you can’t remove the lever for cleaning if the opener is mounted flush against the bottom of a cabinet. In fact, after using the longest mounting screws and all of the spacers that came in the box, I still couldn’t rotate the lever far enough to remove it. I’m retired and had the time to dismantle the piercing lever and modify the nylon key-mount so that a 45-degree rotation (instead of 90 degrees) will let me remove the lever. But if you don’t have that kind of puttering time and patience, you may want to wait until B&D corrects this design glitch. Then it will rate 5 stars.

Outstanding Can Opener
This is an excellent product, and that States consider other, once installed it "disappears". Ours has replaced the former white B & D SpaceSaver opener, we bought back in the early 90s. It seeks to take as long. A correction: the actual product dimensions are: 7 1 / 2 "W x 5" H x 6 7 / 8 "D. The other dimensions that are repeatedly shown are the dimensions of the box he comes in.

It just disappears
We had a B/D electric can opener for 14 years or more and when we got a new black counter top and back splash the white one had to go. When we got the new black B/D can opener and installed it under the cabinet it just disappears! It works very well and is quiet. I am quite confident that this new opener will last as long as the old one.
